Arkansas 3-vehicle accident leaves 2 dead, 1 injured

| Jul 18, 2014 | Uncategorized

Authorities have reported that a three-car accident that occurred in Jefferson County at 11:02 p.m. on July 5 has left two individuals dead and one injured. The injured individual was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Two other individuals involved in the accident reported no injuries.

The Arkansas State Police reported that the accident occurred when a 20-year-old man driving a pickup truck northbound crossed the centerline and struck an 18-year-old man driving a pickup truck southbound. Following the impact, a sedan driver who was also headed south struck the pickup that had been headed in the same direction. The pickup then caught fire.

After a motor vehicle accident that involves multiple vehicles, fatalities and injuries, it is essential for any liable parties to be properly identified. With this information, it is possible that an experienced attorney may be able to bring a strong wrongful death claim against the responsible party. The families of the deceased individuals may be able to recover damages for pain and suffering, funeral costs, vehicle damage and other accident-related expenses.

With regard to this particular case, it is possible that the pickup that was headed north may be held responsible for the accident. A wrongful death claim would likely be successful if it is shown that the accident could have been avoided if the driver would have stayed in his lane or if it is determined that the driver was operating his vehicle while distracted or intoxicated. For example, it may be proven by the results of a blood test that the driver was operating the vehicle while impaired by the effects of drugs or alcohol.
