On the morning of Sept. 8, a 70-year-old man was heading south in a blue pickup truck on Arkansas Highway 7 in Harrison. At the same time, another man was driving north in a white pickup and another man was going east in a dump truck on Highway 43. Around 8:30 a.m., they all reached the same intersection, according to a Harrison Police report, and the dump truck driver ran the stop sign.
The reports says that the dump truck driver ran the stop sign after losing control of his vehicle. He then struck the rear fender on the passenger side of the blue pickup, which sent that truck into the northbound lane and into the path of the white pickup. The white truck then hit the driver’s side door of the blue pickup.
The drivers of all three vehicles suffered injuries and were transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, according to officials. They were released following treatment, according to a hospital representative. The dump truck driver received a citation for failing to maintain control, running a stop sign and driving on a suspended license.
When anyone is injured in a truck accident, determining if one of the drivers involved was impaired or negligent is an important factor if any of the injured parties is considering filing a lawsuit. A personal injury attorney could examine the evidence of the crash and provide advice regarding a lawsuit against the responsible party. An injured party could receive a settlement or an award to help cover vehicle repairs, medical expenses and loss of work should the claim be successful.
